[ After a minute of listening out for Unpleasant Noises Darcy's just. Going to knock on Skulduggery's door and hope that the Captain is indeed in there. She's got a plate with whatever of the Yule log is left and a fork and her Christmas presents for the Captain in her pockets. ]
Captain?
[ If not she'll just visit him at his actual door back on the ship, after they get back. Not like the cake is going stale. ]
[Alright, not that Jack wasn't minding his own business during the dance, and not that Jack's great at reading a room, but he could tell there were some bad vibes from the crowd during that dance. Jack's quick to shift his eyes to a little beside the Captain, not directly on him anymore, and he shoves his hands into his pockets.
... This might not solely be because of his reaction, however.]
Yeah.
... Is it - was it hard, figuring out how to trust someone?
[Jack almost says 'again', but manages not to, since he doesn't know the details of the Captain's life. Maybe whoever had him before never bothered with the whole 'you can trust me boyo' song and dance.]
[It is a shitty non-answer, but Natsuno is keeping a tight hold on his annoyance. Skulduggery told him to believe the captain when he says he doesn't know, and for the sake of trying to get SOMETHING out of this he'll save the rude hot takes to himself.
He's an awful teen, but awful teen of his word. The toy is the captain's for the next three days.]
Hm. Can you describe how you did, small as it is?
Friday, at some vague point during the December excursion
... I suppose I've never had to really... consider things, before. If all that matters is what I want, then whatever action I first take is always the right one. It takes mere seconds to figure out, but they're seconds I've never spent before. It's... odd.
I know! I hear the complaint a lot, but... [sighs] Well, it's just that fires are such a problem! And it really is just a bit too much like work to be good for vacations!
Oh! ... [awkward sort of realization that she doesn't know how to... uh, cook. beyond microwaving some hot pockets.]
Uh. Do you know where I can get... a recipe? [she realizes it's... a combination of... flour and eggs and milk and maybe some oil or sugar and... sure, but in what ratios and for how long and all that?]
She waits a moment to see if the doll does anything else. No response, then she just looks up to stare at the bridge door... as if expecting to see the Captain step outside after she's just talked out loud to Catduggery.
[ Waiting a little longer... but nothing happens! Maybe the Captain is busy or taking a nap or something. She has no idea how things work up here unlike the other people who stop by the bridge often.
Probably should just leave then.
...
Fio squishes Judith close, rubbing the daisy stitching on the doll's side. Then she props the teddy bear against the door. A little reluctantly, but... maybe it'll be okay! ]
