It's probably dumber. Max wants to know if you can still bring us back if we die outside your realms. I figure you're not letting us go that easily, and you wouldn't send Skulduggery if that was the case, but he wanted to hear it from the horse's mouth.
[pause] Well, the way it's been explained to me... Some souls just aren't, y'know... strong enough to survive outside their own timelines... Like repotting a lily!

Literally just exactly that, what the inside of the bridge looked like, the fact you had 'media' sitting around, and the erder flow thingie. Like I said, not very interesting.
Oh- and he told me about you wanting the cool knife. Said you seemed kind of hurt by it. And I guess... he talked about you? What you're like when you're not doing the megalomaniac 'bleh bleh I'm the bad guy' bit.
[ Shrug. ]
That was all off the record, 's why I didn't think of it.
I told you when I remembered it, didn't I? What's the big deal anyway? You don't just sit in the bridge twiddling your moustache and rubbing your hands together evil-y all day, big whoop. It's not like any of it was actually useful.
[ Huffs. ]
He said he thought you were kind of funny. And quiet. That you're bad at dealing with people if they're not picking a fight with you. None of that is like, revealing your secret evil plans or anything. That could describe like, half the people on the ship.
