[Valdis finds Friday at the desk as always. The ghouls running around the fair and how the one actually interacted with her had brought a specific thought to mind.]
Friday, what would happen if we tried to...catch one of the ghosts who serve on the ship?
[Daisy was unfriendly enough that she assumed the rest of the ghosts were similarly filled with anger. But one could never know.]
[In theory she should be able to be a little more choosy, but it does depend on what soul decides to grab on to some extent, so a little like fishing. The strong ones might want to come out instead of the opposite though.]
[She assumed from the killing, but was more interested in how they killed]
Would the ghosts be able to kill without bodies if they somehow got loose on the wrong plane?
[Technically the plane in question is occupied by something else already, if that something else even chose to intervene. But if the magic got broken somewhere in the middle...]
Everyone always thinks that having your soul devoured is a clean process! It's separate from your physical form, right? But, that's not how it works! Your spirit is part of every little part of you - and to get it, they'll take whatever piece they can grab first! Ripping flesh from bone! Cracking bone to the marrow! Yellow fat and white fat and red muscle - you'd be awful surprised how long your conscious mind can stay attached to your physical form as it's devoured before your eyes! It's when they start on your organs that you die, usually! Immortal-types always seem to have a particularly awful time of it, and sometimes last even beyond that!

... How?
no subject
Just...pretend there is a viable method of capturing a ghost.
[She's gotten decent enough at the misuse of her abilities, it might be worth an attempt.]
no subject
But, that's an awfully central concept to just pretend...?
no subject
Let's say someone has the ability to grab onto souls and drag them into a different plane.
What would happen?
no subject
Hm, if it worked... Well, it's a bit like catching a fish! The body count would really depend entirely on what you managed to catch!
no subject
Body count. From possession?

leans her elbows onto the counter.]
I'm really getting awfully tired of warning you people! It's like you're all trying to ruin your unnatural run of good luck!
no subject
You just dodged the question.

[Others might be upset if she got torn apart, but if she learned something in the process, well, it might be worth it.]

[cocks head again]
That's you, isn't it!

So someone has attempted it before and that was the outcome.
[It would have been silly to assume she was the only one with the ability to pull souls out of people and places to ever end up on the Serena Eterna.]
Does the ghost disperse after that or keep going?
no subject
Oh, you can't possibly think anyone's ever done that here! We're here right now, aren't we?
no subject
Did it happen in a reality that wasn't the Serena Eterna?

I would deeply appreciate hearing the story, Friday.

I assume you aren't going to actually tell me then.
