Well, um. Most ghosts... It's not very nice, being a ghost, and if you go through not very nice things for a really long time... You don't end up being very nice yourself.
... If anybody could become a nice ghost, though, it'd definitely be you, Miss Fio.
[ She doesn't plan on giving up any time soon. Only curious. And even if she's interested in living a life off of the ship, she knows there's a possibility that she might disappear before seeing that goal. She knows it's possible to come back too. Maybe her heart's content enough to keep living on the ship, despite the horrors that happen sometimes... ]
I hope I can always stay kind. I don't wanna give you any trouble. Or anyone.
How do you know that? [ Then why did all the bad things happen? ] ...It's okay, Miss Friday. It makes me feel sad when I think about it but I don't cry as much anymore 'cause there's lots of nice people here.
[ A pause, thinking for a moment. Suddenly, she starts to smile big. ]
I think so too! I want everybody to be happy. I got my chance here! I feel like... my wish was answered.
[ She knows that's not how things work, that people are brought in by luck. One of the few pieces of information she understood from the black binder. I don't want to die. Somebody help! Help help help— she remembers her plea in her last moments, among her thoughts of self-deprecation. But still, when she thinks about when she first showed up on the ship, it does feel like she was saved... ]
... Hm. You know? Maybe it was! [she leans forward slightly, voice lowering almost conspiratorially.] Wishes do come true, you know! There's lots of different ways out there!
My friend Mr. Monster was collecting my bad dreams so his wish could come true-- so he could turn human someday.
[ That was back in The Cage, a place she can no longer go to anymore. Unfortunately she never got a chance to see Levania's wish come true. ]
...Did you know that making a thousand paper cranes can grant your wish? Yuuyu told me so! [ Natsuno, she means. She sort of missed out on a month of working on her project due to being possessed though... ] I'm still working on it. [ Her voice goes smaller into an excited whisper: ] And when I'm done, I'm gonna wish for everyone's happiness.
[ Does it lose its effectiveness if she tells someone about her wish? She has no idea. If it does, then she'll just have to make a thousand more cranes. ]
Oh, that's one of my favorite ways! Because, even if it doesn't work, you still end up with lots of little paper crane friends! [happy sigh] Wishing on stars, dandelion seeds, stones that hold the wish of a people, holding your breath when you cross a bridge... Humans really do love making wishes, don't they!
Hee hee. You're right. [ And she'll have a thousand paper cranes to name! ] I won't give up, if it doesn't work. I've never heard about wishing on dandelion seeds and stones... I've gotta try that!
[ Fio's smile is a lot brighter than when she first came up to the desk earlier. Is she allowed to sneak in Friday's wish along with hers? ...There's no rule against that when finishing cranes, is there? ]
Hmm... when I finish my cranes, I'll wish for peace and happiness for all.
That's a very good idea! [thinks...] You know, if you'd like, the children's area usually has some sort of craft supplies available; maybe you can find some nice shades of paper for your cranes!
Rainbow cranes would be beautiful. I'll have to take a look over there later!
[ It's a little late for her to check right now! Not that anyone's reprimanding her being awake at the moment. She's still a bit shaky wandering at this hour. ]
And, um... thank you, Miss Friday. You're always really nice.
I think I feel a little better after talking to you. I might be able to sleep easily!
[ The bad dreams might come up, but she'll get through it.
Fio adjusts the tote bag around her arm, seeming to prepare to leave for the night. The sound of paper rustling inside reminds her-- the third thing. ]
Oh, Miss Friday... can I ask you about one more thing?
[ Politely asking, even if Friday's likely not going anywhere... ]
[ One moment as she carefully lifts the paper out from her tote. She slides the drawing onto the desk: it's a childish depiction of Fio and a small shadowy figure, fiery eyes, standing somewhere what looks to be a worn down ruin with flowers. Her favorite spot back home... and her final resting place.
It's obviously not an accurate representation, drawn by Fio's untrained hand. The figure shown beside her should be a little smaller, probably about a head shorter. The silver cuffs are missing too... but that's a far too sad detail to draw in. And besides, she wished it away in her dream. ]
Has anyone like this ever shown up on the ship? This is my friend, Sparkles.

Maybe there's a way for it to happen and we just haven't figured it out yet!

There's always a chance! You just have to keep trying and never give up!

...Miss Friday? Do most ghosts here become all mean and angry? ...Can I become a nice ghost?
